My daughter is getting a PS4 for Christmas. I’m middle aged and haven’t used a game console since N64. It is my understanding there are good racing games, like simulators of real cars on tracks. I want to get a car game for me. Is there a game that is fun that may also make me a better driver? Should I consider a set-up with a wheel and pedals or is that for later?
Thanks in advance Oppo!

Ass etto Corsa is only just what every little girl dreams of finding bundled with a new racing setup. Well worth the 2K investment in her future driving skills.

So you’d prefer a more realistic approach. You should consider Gran Turismo Sport then. Its the default realistic driving game for any Playstation, has a decent variety of cars ranging from family to race. Also Project Cars 2, along similar lines. The handling model on these games is set up in such a way as to be easily accessible with a controller, but this might be difficult to adapt to coming from real cars, so a steering wheel might be a worthwhile investion (can get pricey).

I’ll second this. If you want to get a wheel.s go Logitech. You can be al it at less than 300 bucks with 3 pedals and a shifter.

How could you have gone so wrong raising them? :P

How haven’t I gone wrong. My 16 year old will probably play. She wants to learn stick...eventually. She’s the one who got me into cars and that was at age 40.

cool. I was just checking out logitech wheel/shifter/pedal combo. Amazon was steering me towards that, pun not intended but it does work.

See she’s a smart one. She can be all like “Dad, you should get me a car. Don’t worry, it’s not so I can stay out late with my friends, it’s just so I can learn the important life skill of driving a stick shift!”

She doesn’t want to start with stick. I’m not sure I blame her. Eventually.

I think you can get GT5 & 6 for the PS4.
I quit after I boughtGT 6, and actually playing through Ocarina of time again after... years.

Logitech has been the most popular wheel manufacturer since the PS2 days. They make quality products at reasonable prices. They are the safe and sensible choice.
Thrustmaster is the budget option. You get what you pay for.
If you want to get a nosebleed, check out Fanatec.

You have rekindled my desire to see a beautiful and mature Japanese continuation of the “Ridge Racer” series.
